My Journey so far

Where It All Began

Growing up, I was surrounded by books, magazines, gardens, plants, machines, and tools. I was the kind of kid who was always making something or taking something apart. Looking back, I spent much of my childhood creating things without realizing there was a name for it. Paper masks, decorative pots, handmade greeting cards, gardening, painting doors and windows, or fixing home electrical things, if I could imagine it, I wanted to make it.

Even though I was drawn to art from an early age, I slowly convinced myself that drawing just wasn't one of my strengths. I couldn't draw faces, landscapes, or objects the way I thought an artist should. Somewhere along the way, I accepted that as a fact.

I eventually pursued animation, built a career in the Animation and VFX industry.

Then, in late 2022, I bought myself a Kindle Scribe. It was meant to be a simple device for reading and writing. A few months later, while casually exploring its writing options, I found myself drawing.

To my surprise, I didn't stop.

Since then, drawing has become an almost daily practice. Most of the time, I have no idea what I'm about to draw. There is no plan, no reference, and rarely a destination. The lines simply emerge, one after another, like thoughts finding their way onto the page.

I still can't confidently sketch a face or a tree from observation. But somewhere along the way, I realized that wasn't what I was searching for. To me, art became less about representing the world around me and more about discovering the one within.

What Art Means to Me

As broad as the definition of art can be, to me, art is freedom and a pause. Freedom to explore and express. It is an innate human need, one that has existed since the earliest marks made by our ancestors, from hand stencils in Sulawesi to figurative cave paintings in El Castillo. I often wonder what moved them to create, and why.

Art is also a pause, a moment where I connect to the world and to myself, away from the beautiful chaos of life. Inspired by nature, life, people, and emotions, my artwork is open to interpretation. I believe art lives in that space between seeing and feeling, and makes you think.

The Idea Behind This Space

Somewhere along the way, I realized I needed a place to connect with the world through the things I create. While social media has its place, I found myself longing for something slower, quieter, and more intentional, somewhere I could share without constantly chasing the next post or the next scroll.

djnart is that space.

It is a place to pause, slow down, and share my journey through the things I create and the stories behind them.

For now, artwork sits at the heart of this space, alongside photography, writing, and the occasional blog.
It's only the beginning. As I continue to grow, I hope this space grows with me, making room for new ideas, experiences, and chapters along the way.

Cheers!

Who I Am

Beyond the identities I carry, who am I really? It's a question I often ask myself, and one I may never know the full answer to.

What I do know is that I am the sum of my beliefs, practices, and choices. I am shaped by the experiences I seek, the people I meet, the mistakes I make, what I create, and above all, my curiosity.
I am a work in progress and I hope I always will be.
