Joining the Conversation

Kudos! This was definitely not supposed to be my first post, but here I am to share what I am witnessing and experiencing.

present your points, to ask for accountability, and to say, "Let’s talk to find a solution."

Gen Z, as we often refer to them, inspired people of our nation to unite for what is right. To rise above our differences and come together for a cause - a cause we are all a part of - to stand for the belief that a fair education system is our right.

Often criticized for being too sensitive, apolitical, casual, and only having an online presence, they have proven all of that wrong and continue to do so. Setting examples every day, they are showing the world that we are a dignified generation, we have a voice, and we will exercise our constitutional rights to ask for accountability if we have to

Sonam Wangchuk, a man who has become a symbol of peaceful protest. Time and again, he restores our belief in non-violence and constructive ways to bring change. Although he is biological, he has shown resistance to the system's methods to break his conviction. A hero -the kind we need - who inspires us to hold the line.

And the people of our country: yes, we are diverse, holding varying perspectives and opinions, but we come together to stand and fight for what is right.

For the last week, there was something simmering inside me - a voice. As I was and am following the situation,I was trying to maintain my status quo of not sharing my views on social media and only discussing them with friends and loved ones. However, every act of bravery, courage, and camaraderie has inspired me to do what I believe is the right thing: to speak out and join the conversation.

To the government, the system, the institutions of our democracy, and our fellow citizens who run them - those who have the authority to take decisions, no matter how big or small - all I want to say is, "think."

No one is expecting or asking for a change of government, except for parhaps the opposition, which is kind of obvious (you would have done the same if you were in their shoes). Here, you have a chance to fix the system and set an example.

There is enough going on, and you know what should and should not have been done, as well as what needs to be done.

I believe you know what needs to be done... sit quietly and reflect. Consider what you are doing.

Think about what you are doing. Think about your kids and your loved ones. Take your time - five, ten, twenty minutes.

I am hopeful you will find the answer.

And if you still can't, ask the people of our country, or you can talk to a Gen Z - you will find one outside, perhaps waiting to talk.

Who are these people? Call them whatever you want to, tag them, but the truth is these are the people of our country who are doing all they can to support and show up for each other. 

There is and will be a lot to say as the situation evolves, and I am sure I will come back to this. Till then...
